The electric sphere is a bright blue and constantly gives off static electricity in arcs. Getting close to it does give a person a few shocks but nothing so bad as the relatively big arcs would imply.
The electric sphere can be used to control electricity, such as shooting/calling down lightning bolts (if used in a lightning storm this can be a deadly attack), electrifying metal objects or water, and if used carefully can even charge a cell-phone or other handheld device in a pinch.
